About Penelope
Penelope d’Arcy Graham is a British cake artist whose work sits at the intersection of art, design, craftsmanship and pâtisserie.
With an academic background in Art and Design, Penelope began her career in the BBC’s Costume Design department, developing an instinct for colour, form, texture, proportion and visual storytelling. It was this creative foundation that would ultimately lead her into the world of cake artistry, where she discovered a medium that allowed her to combine her artistic training with the precision and craftsmanship of pâtisserie.
Penelope went on to train with renowned cake designer Peggy Porschen before becoming part of the team behind the celebrated Peggy Porschen brand in Belgravia, London, where she ultimately managed the cake team. She later worked with Rosalind Miller Cakes, further developing her expertise in luxury wedding and celebration cakes, before going on to run the Squires Kitchen International School, one of the UK’s leading centres for cake decorating and sugarcraft education.
Her growing reputation within the industry also led to her appointment as UK Ambassador for Wilton, one of the world’s most recognised names in cake decorating, representing the brand within the UK cake and baking industry.
Building on this experience, Penelope established her own international cake artistry business, creating bespoke commissions for private clients, luxury celebrations and high-profile events across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Her work developed a reputation for its sophisticated aesthetic, meticulous craftsmanship and highly personalised approach.
Her career then took her further into luxury hospitality, where she became Chef de Cuisine at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, gaining invaluable experience within one of the world’s most ambitious luxury hospitality environments.
During her time at Atlantis The Royal, Penelope created cakes for an exceptional international clientele, including commissions for His Majesty King Charles III, members of the Royal Families of the UAE and numerous high-profile celebrities and guests. Her work extended far beyond the hotel itself, with bespoke cakes created and supplied for private residences, luxury hotels, prestigious venues, weddings, celebrations and events throughout Dubai and across the UAE.
Working at this level strengthened Penelope’s understanding of exceptional service, discretion, operational excellence and the expectations of a discerning luxury clientele, while giving her the opportunity to create highly individual pieces for some of the region’s most significant occasions.
Now returning to her roots as an independent creative, Penelope is launching her own eponymous cake artistry business, bringing together more than two decades of creative and professional experience.
Drawing on her experience across art, design, fashion, luxury pâtisserie, education and international hospitality, Penelope creates highly bespoke cakes and edible installations that are designed to be as visually compelling as they are delicious.
Her philosophy is simple: every cake should be a work of art, created specifically for the person, place and occasion it celebrates.
